No they are not. They have to meet the requirements for the other hardware installed. Too weak of a power supply and you’re not going to be doing crap. Also you have the power breakdown with rails and such, but that usually only deals with video and maybe some other minor things, but that’s in serious rigs and I don’t think you’d be asking that question and building a serious rig. Anyways, no not every power supply is compatible with every computer.

If you want a cheap system from 2005 to 2007 you would have to look in ebay. But a more moder PC won’t be that much more costly. On the other hand my first laptop (as second pc) ist a 150 Euro Dell Latitude D600 from ebay. (From 2003) – running WinXP for surfing the net and watching video from my bed

ive been thinking of getting an ATI Radeon HD 5970 but im unsure whether ill have to upgrade my PSU. my current specs are i7 920@2.67ghz, 12gb ram, 2 GTS 250′s in SLI, and a creative labs soundblaster “fata1ity edition”. my CPU is also liquid cooled. im using a 1000 watt PSU atm.
I agree 4gigs of ram is all you need.Hell you can live a good life with only 2.
well if you had 12gb of ram you wouldn’t need to upgrade it very much
get w/ the times dude. 4 gigs is laughable now adays. 2 gigs is mediocre. im not saying everyone shoul dbuy a rig w/ 12 gigs of ram but if ur a gamer u should hav at least 6. games are starting to raise the amount of ram recommended to run their games and will continue to. i will never go back to less then 12. i love it.
hey guys my internet connection is pretty slow its wireless any idea how i make it fast? cos if i play a game it usually stucks and after awhile it goes back + if i play something like counterstrike or something i have very high ping like 400+600+ anyone can help me?
a better router may help. but just going with a good ol’ ethernet cable directly would be best.

idk about tht. from what im seeing the card uses a bit over 300 watts at load and about 47 idle. if u were two use 2 of those bad boys than ya. but for one no way do u need a 2000 watt PSU.
