    lol thanks

yep, the insides of the computer now smell like fried resistor carbon. I’m finding it difficult getting the casing apart to find out what it actually fried. I’m hoping all it took out was it’s regulation circuits and charging circuit

  • Astro29:

For those who are not sure what actually happened, the power supply I made, the set resistor (220 ohm) should have been 1/2 watt, not 1/4 watt. When current started drawing thru the shunt transistor the resistor over heated and went open circuit so the regulator no longer had a control voltage. The voltage then shot up to its FULL input voltage (+40V), sent it to the computer and fried it. lol

  • mattyvt93:

ahh yep, i think thats all it should be as i done almost the same thing with a really really old dell laptop some years ago lol.. But fark i hate pulling laptops apart! :P
