I have about 20 old computers that I want to take apart to recycle.
What is the best way of seperating the parts and wire separately?

Should I chop the wires of the power supply or recycle as a whole? Or open the power supply and take parts from within?

Should I take apart the CPU processor for the gold?

Can I mix the IDE, SATA and power supply cables? Or seperate them?

Mix cd/DVD drives with floppy drives?

USB controller, should I chop the cables from it or recycle as a whole?

I recently upgraded my computer, and I wanted to see if I could get a little extra cash selling off the replaced parts (AGP card, Mobo, Power Supply)

Power Supplies are a dime-a-dozen so I doubt I’d be able to sell that.

The AGP card is a bit older, a GeForce 6600 256MB

The Motherboard is a Gigabyte Technology one from a few years ago with a max FSB speed of 2.3Ghz, made for Athlon Processors.

I’m looking for some suggestions on asking price as well as what venue I should sell through. I live in Los Angeles so the Los Angeles Times is an option for the Classifieds, though I’m not adverse to selling it on eBay or some other online site.

So will there be a bad effect on my computer if I will use the 600-watt power supply instead of a 500-watt power supply?

When I see some computer parts (such as power supply, chassis, etc) on sale, I really want to buy them, but I am not going to build my desktop until next year when I move to another city. I don’t have a desktop with me now (I used to have a few but I only have a laptop now) so I can’t test the parts if buy it. So is that worth it to buy parts on sale if I can’t test it or install it right away?
